- Understand that public speaking is not a quick process – you need to think, understand, be prepared and be able to rewrite the speech many times. You must have the mentality to practice your craft, go through it again and again and practice it as much as you can.
- Start as early as possible so that you have a story bank, message bank and a quotation bank. Many people assume that whatever they read, they will definitely remember (which is not true). Be consistent in keeping a track of all of it.
- Just keeping on going and get stuff done. Don’t stop in your journey so that you are eventually able to become a better communicator.
Darren also added that for anyone looking to become a champion, you need to look out for new mentors. You can read their books or watch their videos because it helps in shortening your learning curve exponentially. Even as a professional you should continue to learn from others and gain as much information from them as you can.
